Polyarteritis nodosa as an unusual cause of acute abdomen in children. A case report

Abes M., Sarihan H., Isik O., Çobanoglu U.

Polyarteritis nodosa ( PAN ) i a rare cause of acute abdomen with hemorrhage secondary to aneurysm rupture, ischemic necrosis, and perforations of the appendix, gallbladder, common bile duct, small bowel, and stomach. Due to the possibility of PAN affecting multiorgan systems and causing serious complications without specific symptoms and physical examination signs, diagnosis is important. We report a child with PAN which affects both appendix and gallbladder.
