This article describes the authors’ experiences in treating 23 patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome using maxillo-mandibular advancement, focusing particularly on occlusal problems. The aim of this report was to suggest how to save time in treating patients who do not tolerate conservative treatments, such as nasal continuous positive pressure devices, by avoiding preoperative orthodontic therapy. Authors suggest which malocclusion conditions can be left untreated and which solutions can be used to correct some malocclusions surgically or with a combination of surgery and postoperative orthodontic therapy or prosthetic appliances.
