Oral myxomatous lesions are relatively rare and include the oral focal mucinosis (OFM), that is a disease of unknown etiology in which the connective tissue undergoes focal myxoid degeneration. The clinical appearance of OFM is unremarkable. Most of the lesions are small, asymptomatic, round elevations of the gingiva, generally covered by normal mucosa without ulceration. In this paper, we report a patient with a very large sessile mass located in the midline of the mandibular gingiva and we make a review the literature in order to provide a complete updated description of this rare disease.
