The coexistence of thyroid disease in cases of primary hyperparathyroidism is a well-known fact. Of particular interest is the presence of synchronous thyroid tumors in case of parathyroid adenoma. This event occurs in varying percentages in different series from 2% to about 8% of cases. There is no reliable explanation of the cause of the association of disease even if recently argued a possible shortfall of anticancer immune responses. The authors present a case of parathyroid adenoma associated with the presence of plurifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma and follicular adenoma.
