PDF

Friedreich’s disease is a degenerative pathology of the nervous system which prevailingly regards the posterior columns of spinal cord and the spino-cerebellar fibres of proprioceptive system. In a restricted number of cases, this disease may be associated to Gerhardt’s syndrome, a laryngeal abductor muscles palsy with vocal cords fixed in adduction. It reports a case of a young patient who showed the above-said association. The physiopathological mechanisms explaining the association between the two pathologies and the most useful therapeutical strategies in these cases are also discussed.
