The role of the ENT specialist is actually more important with the standardization of olfactory tests in the diagnosis of early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). The results obtained with the olfactory test in these patients suggest to introduce an accurate ENT evaluation and the administration of the olfactory test in the diagnostic battery of AD and pre-clinical dementia. In this study we underline the role of the Sniffin’ Sticks Screening Test (SSST) in the evaluation of patients with neurodegenerative diseases with regard to our results obtained in forms of predementia such as amnesic Mild Cognitive Impairment (aMCI).
