Actinomyces are saprophytic bacteria of the oral cavity. They can produce a rare, chronic, and suppurative process that usually originates from teeth and mandible and then involve the cervical region, especially the sub-mandibular area. We described the first case of actinomycosis occurring in the retropharyngeal space and the literature review.
