Rhinopathy has an important impact in clinical practice, being one of the most frequent causes of medical examination’s request. Accordingly to this, it involves a huge diagnostic and therapeutic commitment. Till nowadays diagnostic investigations for allergic rhinitis demonstrated low sensibility and specificity so diagnosis must be principally based on clinical anamnesis. Incidence of allergic rhinitis is about 10-15% of population and, similarly to what observed for the other allergic deseases, it is constantly increasing. The aim of this review is to remind which are the principal clinical and etiopathological characteristics of allergic rhinitis and, according to these informations, it suggests a diagnostic path, without leaving out of account an accurate anamnesis and the search of eventual complicances. The medical treatment of rhinitis wants overall to control clinical manifestations, while surgery is limited to complicances, between which we remind bacterial and micotic sinusitis, and sino nasal polyposis.
