Tacrolimus in renal transplantation. A review of recent data

This over­view ­will cov­er the ­main de­vel­op­ment of the use of Tacrolimus in or­gan trans­plan­ta­tion. It sum­mariz­es the ­large ­amount of ­data ­which ­have re­cent­ly ap­peared in the lit­er­a­ture, es­pe­cial­ly in com­par­i­son ­with Cyclosporine, ­with re­cent con­trolled con­ver­sion ex­pe­ri­ence, com­bi­na­tion ther­a­pies, with­draw­al of cor­ti­cos­ter­oids, the use of Tacrolimus in mono­ther­a­py and in paed­i­at­ric re­nal trans­plant pa­tients. Finally car­di­o­vas­cu­lar ­risk fac­tors are dis­cussed in the ­light of the oth­er ­main ­risk fac­tors in ­this par­tic­u­lar pop­u­la­tion of trans­plant pa­tients.
