People exhibiting mental disease are examined at the first step by unspecialized Medical Doctors (MD). Whether or not the disorders that they show are at a low or high level of severity unspecialized MD send these patients at the specialized center for Mental Health. The aim of the present study was to investigate the appropriateness and consistence of the diagnoses made by unspecialized MD. By the way we analyzed the presence of common psychiatric disorders (MCD) in 40 patients seen at the mental illness department by means of Prime Md Test. The results have show that for more than 50% of the sample diagnosis was not adeguate. On these grounds we think that unspecialized MD lack competence to copy with people exhibiting mental disorders. Since this specialized exams are required without a real discriminative ability. On the other hand there is a tendency from psychiatrist to accept almost all the patient send to them by unspecialized MD. It would be worthwile in the future to strongly develop the already existing services connecting the work of unspecialized MD with that of psychiatrists. Up to know this link seems to be weak since this goal is far to be concretely realized.
