The diagnosis and management of adult community-acquired pneumonia

Woodhead M.

Department of Respiratory Medicine Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester, UK

PDF

Important progress is being made in issues such as diagnosis, investigation and management of the always common condition known as community-acquired pneumonia. Recently the European Respiratory Society, in collaboration with the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, has produced Guidelines for the management of this condition. I have used this document as a basis for this review paper, which should be of relevance to anyone involved in the care of patients with this condition.
