Angiosarcoma of the pleura: the pathologist's doubts on a clinical case

The authors report their experience on a clinical case of angiosarcoma of the pleura. A woman of years 69, obese, not smoker, with arterial hypertension, has beeen hospitalized for persistent dry cough and dyspnea. The diagnostic algorithm is the following: X-ray of the thorax, toracentesis with cytological examination of the liquid pleuric, CT total body, pleuroscopy and biopsy of the pleura. The clinical diagnosis is impossible and it is effected with histological and immunoistochimic techniques but also with the use of markers (CD31, CD34, Factor VIII).
