Computer-assisted navigation for implant placement and hip resurfacing arthroplasty: a review

Surgical procedures in the proximal femur — fracture fixation and hip resurfacing — have in common, that a high accuracy of implant placement is clinically important. The aim of this review was to ascertain the pros and cons of computer-assisted technologies in those procedures regarding the precision of implant placement including the number of guidewire drilling attempts, the radiation and the operation time.
