Bellantonio V.

Sezione di Chirurgia Plastica Dipartimento di Specialità Chirurgiche Università degli Studi di Messina, Messina, Italia

PDF

The scaphoid bone is the carpal bone most commonly fractured. Fracture of scaphoid bone is most frequent in young men, especially following sport traumas and car accidents. The most common mechanism of fracture is the fall on the palm of the open hand, rarely on the back. The correct diagnosis and the correct treatment of scaphoid bone fractures is very important given the leading role that the scaphoid plays in the movement of the wrist.
