Understanding complications after total knee arthroplasty

Nearly half of the early revisions after total knee replacement are performed for failure due to surgical error. This article reviews the common reasons for failure after primary total knee arthroplasty. Understanding the modes of failure is the first step towards helping reduce the incidence of failure of knee arthroplasty.
