Aim. Singh Index (SI) has been used to estimate osteoporosis degree, by evaluation of proximal femur radiograph; it gives an information about bone quality, by analysis of the trabecular structure of the spongiosa. The aim of present study is to examinate the opinion about SI in scientific literature, and the purposes for whom it has been utilized. In the second part of the study we try to evaluate variability of judgement between different operators that use SI.
Methods. Different operators evaluate series of radiograph, indipendently. Series of radiographs have been valuated by digital technique.
Results. Results show that there is a good correlation between different operators. Digital technique seem not to improve this correlation.
Conclusion. We conclude that SI is a good, reliable method for first jiudgement of osteoporosis.
