Exophthalmos with epidural haematoma. Case report and review of the literature

Dario A., Soldati M., Dorizzi A.

PDF

The association between post-traumatic exophthalmos and epidural haematoma is a rare entity: only 14 cases are reported in the literature. The case of a 7-year-old child with intracranial epidural haematoma in the frontal region and unilateral exophthalmos caused by retrobulbar haematoma is presented. A review of the 14 previous cases is made, the pathogenesis of this condition is debated and two types of syndrome are defined.
