AIM: The antioxidant potential of roots of K. septemlobus which is an easily available cosmeceutical plant has been investigated.
METHODS: The antioxidant activity of the root fractions were analyzed using Total phenolic contents, DPPH free radical scavenging, ABTS radical cation scavenging, Superoxide anion radical scavenging and Hydrogen peroxide scavenging. SOD like activity and cytotoxicity studies were carried out using MTT assay.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The result shows that K.Septemlobus root could be a suitable natural antioxidant. The ethylacetate extract of the root serves as a good cosmeceutical ingredient apart from its antioxidant capacity.
