Aim. The authors reported their experience, with arthroscopic debridement, in the treatment of the impingement of the anterolateral soft tissues of the ankle in 10 athletes.
Methods. All these patients had a history of single or multiple inversion injuries, without instability.Their age was from 18 to 50 years (mean 32.6) 7 men and 3 women. The follow-up was from 12 months to 22 months (medium 18).
Results. The results were excellent or good in 8 patients (80%) and fair in 2 (20%).
Conclusion. The authors conclude that the artroscopic debridement of soft tissue impingement, in absence of important osteochondral lesions, produces good results with easy return to activity level.
