Obstructive sleep apnea and future prospectives

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are the most common form of sleep-disordered breathing it’s characterized by multiple transient episodes of pharyngeal obstruction during sleep. The patient present respiratory symptoms (snoring and choking) and the most serious complications including arrhythmias, disease of the sinus node and sudden cardiac death, systemic and pulmonary hypertension , heart failure, coronary disease, stroke. Large randomized studies are currently lacking, treatment of OSA may be an important to prevent cardiac arrhythmias.
