The benefits of exercise training for patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease was noted some 200 years ago. But patients with myocardial infarction observed six weeks of bed rest until 1960. The most remarkable advances in the management of coronary disease however have occurred over the last three decades. This article will emphasize the evolution of cardiac rehabilitation and presented actually multidisciplinary approach to structured, physician-supervised rehabilitation programs.
