Aim. Muscle activity is important to exert a working pressure in patients who use medical stockings or bandages. The objective of the current study was to dynamically evaluate the working pressures during the bending and stretching of the toes and feet.
Methods. Fifteen lower limbs of patients who used elastic stockings were evaluated to dynamically measure the working pressure during bending and stretching the toes and feet. An apparatus that measures the working pressure at half-second intervals was utilized with the sensors placed in the medial region of leg.
Results. Variations in the working pressures during movements of both the toes and feet were detected but bending and stretching the feet caused higher working pressures.
Conclusion. In conclusion, movement of the toes and feet cause alterations in working pressures in the musculature of the leg in patients who use elastic stockings.
