Aim. A double blind study has been performed on patients after conizaztion with radiofrequency at San Josè and Meissen Hospital (Bogotà, Colombia) in order to define in a objectivable and quantificable way the benefits of a treatment based on Fitostimoline® (an healing process promoter).
Methods. A total of 80 patients, divided in two groups (one treated with Fitostimoline® and the other with placebo), were studied after the dressing with digital colposcopy and an image analyzer at day 8,16,24,30 and 45.
Results. Differences, significant from a statystical point of view, have been observed in the reduction of the wounds between the two groups (p<0.001) At day 45 a 91% of the healing has been observed in the group treated with Fitostimoline® versus the 86% in the control group, with others significant differences in all the follow up (RR 0.03 at 24 day).
Conclusion. Our results suggest the use of Fitostimoline® as an efficacious promoter of the healing process in the cervix.
