Granulomatous mastitis is a rare, chronic necrotizing granulomatous lobulitis of uncertain etiology, which can clinically mimic carcinoma of the breast. We report a case of granulomatous mastitis in a 45 year old woman, who presented with a tender mass in her right breast. The clinical presentation and the mammographic findings were suspicious for inflammatory carcinoma of the breast. The open biopsy revealed the presence of granulomatous mastitis. The patient received an empiric treatment with ketokonazole 200 mg×3 for 10 weeks, showing a significant regression of the infectious mass.
