Metastases to the skin from internal malignancy are uncommon but may be the first presenting sign of cancer in rare instances. This report describes a 57-year-old woman in whom the appearance of multiple cutaneous metastases signaled a diffuse gastrointestinal tumor. The main diagnostic problems are discussed and a review of the literature is given.
