Aim. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a new emollient cream with keratolytic action (urea at 40%) for the treatment of localized hyperkeratosis and palmoplantar keratoderma.
Methods. Two groups of patients, (including 12 patients each aged 26-72 years, suffering from localized hyperkeratosis and palmoplantar keratosis, and a control group with no skin lesions have been studied. The patients were followed-up for 4 weeks and hydration was evaluated by corneometer (Corneometer CM825).
Results. After 4 weeks, an improvement of hydration values was observed in patients with localized hyperkeratosis and palmoplantar keratosis (attinic keratosis, plantar and nail psoriasis).
Conclusion. The efficacy of this keratolytic cream with 40% urea has been confirmed in the treatment of palmoplantar keratosis, plantar and nails psoriasis and hyperkeratosis.
