Cidofovir is a drug for i.v. use registered for retinitis from Citomegalovirus (CMV) resistant to common therapy in AIDS patients; it has a broad range of DNA virus including Adeno, Pox, Papova, Herpes (HSV 1-2, VZV, CMV, EBV). Our purpose is to estimate the effect of the topical use of Cidofovir in elastic collodion at 1% on HPV lesions (genital warts). Nine patients with genital warts resistant to common physical and pharmacological therapy are presented. Three were AIDS patients. Our protocol suggests the Cidofovir cream application twice a day for fifty days. All the genital warts healed quickly and there were only two cases of relapses. Our study is a contribution to the same the scanty literature on patients successfully treated with Cidofovir in HPV infections. The therapeutic range proposed could be a valid opportunity in patients resistant to standard treatment.
