Mercury exanthem

Zanca A., Danese P., Bertazzoni M. G.

From the Divisione Dermatologica Ospedale Carlo Poma, Mantova

PDF

A 54-year-old woman developed an erythematous eruption a day after breaking a clinical mercury thermometer near her face. Mercury exanthem is an acute generalized eruption that is attributed to mercury vapour in patients previously sensitized to mercurials. The authors report some pathogenetic hypotheses suggested in medical literature.
