Meyerson’s phenomenon

Pazzaglia M., Ghetti E., Fanti P. A.

PDF

In 1971 Meyerson described a melanocytic nevus with a halo eczema. Two patients with eczematous halos developing around nevi are presented. Biopsy specimens revealed an intradermal nevus. The surronding epidermis showed acanthosis with spongiosis and parakeratosis. The dermis contained a superficial perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate with eosinophils. The different hypotheses regarding the pathogenesis of Meyerson’s phenomenon are discussed. The condition seems to be a non specific reaction that does not modify the course of the prognosis of the nevus.
