PDF

Synovial sarcoma commonly occurs in the peri-articular regions of the extremities. This is the first report of monophasic synovial sarcoma from the parietal pleura of right diaphragm in an 18-year-old male. The diagnosis was comfirmed by immunohistochemical staining and SYT-SSX fusion gene transcripts using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). He was treated by surgical resection, and he has had three re-operations for local recurrent mass after that.
