Hernia repair by posterior approach

Maniscalco L., Maniscalco A., De Luca S., Tramonte A.

Nowadays, most of the hernioplasties are executed through anterior way, however in the last few decades the posterior approach has been revalued and some types of mesh have been realized exclusively for hernia repair by posterior way. From 1999 to 2001, the authors have carried out 98 hernioplastiies (86 men and 12 women), by posterior approach using the Wings-Mesh prosthesis. After operation the patients did not complain neuralgic or genital disorders. After 36 months no recurrences have been observed. According to the authors' opinion, the preperitoneal approach can be carried out in the treatment of all hernias, particullarly in young men.
