Brancato G., Gandolfo L., Donati M., Privitera A.

PDF

The occurrence of ectopic breast tissue in the axilla is rare and its incidence is not perfectly known. This tissue can show benign or malignant patterns similarly to orthotopic counterpart. A few cases of ectopic axillary fibroadenomas are reported in the literature. The case of a 24 year old woman presenting with axillary fibroadenoma is reported and a review of the literature is made with regards to the incidence, clinical presentation, emphasizing the difficulty of a differential diagnosis among lumps arising in this area.
