Cataldi A., Gasbarro V., Galeotti R., Ascanelli S., Mascoli F.

PDF

A case of agenesis of the inferior vena cava, with deviation of the venous blood into a very dilated azygos and emiazygos veins is presented. The patient, 30 years old, was hospitalised for therapy of a bilateral symptomatic varicocele. The agenesis of 2 of the 4 segments of the inferior vena cava is observed. The embryogenesis of the vena cava inferior is discussed since it is relevant for the malformation in this case. Exact diagnosis and classification was performed with echography and a subsequent venography.
