Surgical treatment of hallux rigidus using Swanson Flexible Hinge Toe Implant

AIM: The aim of this paper was to describe the surgical procedure for the hallux rigidus that allows to maintain the range of motion of the metatarsophalangeal articulation.
METHODS: This study analyze the results of 12 patients operated from 2010 to 2013 in our clinic for degenerative metatarsophalangeal articulation with the use of Swanson Flexible Hinge Toe Implant for the treatment of the hallux rigidus in the preoperative period ad at two-year-follow-up.
RESULTS: We achieved successful clinical outcome in all the cases.
CONCLUSION: Swanson Flexible Hinge Toe Implant represents a good surgical procedure of the degenerative metatarsophalangeal articulation, allowing to maintain the range of motion of the Risultati relativi a metatarsophalangeal articulation at the follow-up.
