AIM: The aim of the study was to look for a correlation between the form and degree of calcaneal pronation (X-ray pictures in lateral projection of loaded foot).
METHODS: X-ray pictures taken in lateral projection of a heel bone removed from a cadaver and mounted on a support, a goniometer being used to measure the pronation angle.
RESULTS: Correlation observed between the form of the talar shelf of the heel bone in the X-ray pictures in lateral projection and degree of pronation, with proposed classification.
CONCLUSION: Confirmation of a simple, speedy technique for determining the degree of calcaneal pronation.
