PDF

Background and methods. Aim of the study is to evaluate the results of 79 patients with fractures of the ankle joint who had been treated in different hospitals during a period of 6 months - 5-years before evaluation. Thirty of them had arthroscopic treatment.
Results. The results obtained were very good (60%) and good (30%). Some patients had treatment of the extraarticular pain besides arthroscopic treatment. The results of comparative analysis proved the effectiveness of the associated treatment in comparison with arthroscopic treatment.
Conclusions. A classification of inveterate fractures of the ankle joint has been made besides the evaluation scales of the results. This classification is based on X-ray and arthroscopic data; it is useful for the description of fractures and for the treatment approach.
