The surgical route to the parotid should guarantee, besides a safe and effective lesion removal, an adequate exposure of the gland and the identification, dissection and preservation of the facial nerve running into the gland. We present a series of 20 subjects who underwent parotidectomy in a one-year time frame, comparing two surgical techniques to access the parotid lodge, i.e. the modified face-lift and the Blair’s techniques. A comparison of the two techniques, with the evaluation of their advantages and the disadvantages was made on the basis of the intraoperative measurements of the glandular margins and the area of surgical exposure.
