The authors show the evaluation procedure they use when examining a patient whose face and occlusion need a combined orthodontic and surgical approach. They discuss the role of cephalometry and the implication of a strict interpretation of numerical data when planning an integrated treatment, that can produce best results when the facial esthetic and function of the patient are the criteria used in the study phase.
