A clinical case of pleomorphic adenoma of the retromolar trigone is described. The characteristics of the tumour and the frequency of expression in different areas of the oral cavity are analysed. Data available in the literature are evaluated and compared with those from our experience at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Institute, University of Naples II. Analysis and comparison of clinical cases confirms the rarity of the location of the tumour in the retromolar trigone. Early diagnosis confirmed by histological examination, and adequate surgical treatment followed by careful follow-up, are the essential principles for treating this type of disease, in particular when it involves the minor salivary glands, to reduce the risk of relapse and of metastases to a minimum.
