The control of pain is a key objective in the management of chronic wounds. Its management, once performed only with anti-inflammatory drugs and/or pain killer, can be currently performed indirectly through the use of advanced dressings. The optimal exudate management, further improving the local conditions, in many cases allows a strong reduction of pain. The authors showed the ability of a polyurethane foam dressing to modulate the exudate and to indirectly reduce the pain in 28 patients. The results were good in 82% of the patients treated.
